For more than twenty years, Fanfara Complexa has been exploring the borderlands of Moldavian folk music and the surrounding musical cultures. In their music, Serbian, hora, and manele melodies meet Serbian, Bulgarian, Turkish, and Jewish folk traditions, while the koboz, kaval, violin, and drum are joined by saxophones and the tango accordion.

Their music evokes the world of Moldavian village weddings and balls while bringing it all into the present: with tight rhythms, improvisation, boundless energy, and the very purpose for which this music was originally created—to make us dance.
