TRIBE | afro-funk jam sessions

The TRIBE series is moving outdoors for the summer season, landing on the Danube riverbank at Pontoon Budapest, where each month we’ll showcase some of the finest artists from the local afrobeat scene (and its wider musical orbit).

▶︎ LITUMA
The members of Lituma are united by their love for Peruvian psychedelic guitar music from the ’60s and ’70s. At their concerts, danceable Peruvian chicha hits alternate with energetic surf rock jams and laid-back Amazonian cumbia interludes. Covers, original songs, heavy reverb, wild cumbia grooves.

▶︎ MÁRTON & THE MARTONEZ
A group of good friends gathered at a Tinariwen concert, including three guys named Márton, who, under the influence of desert psychedelia, decided to start their own band—one consisting solely of people named Márton. Since then, four more Mártons have joined them, bringing the total to seven. Peruvian chicha, desert rock, sub-Saharan afrobeat, and psychedelic guitars galore.

TRIBE - Budapest’s new communal musical adventure, a recurring night of improvisation where some of the city’s most exciting musicians share the stage, aiming to break down genre boundaries and explore what happens when members of different bands meet in a spontaneous, shared musical world - inspired by the traditions of Afrobeat and global grooves.
